The Challenge
This film explores the partnership between Dell Technologies and Goodwill, showcasing how technology can create positive environmental and social impact. The objective was to highlight Goodwill’s role in providing meaningful employment for people who have historically faced barriers to work, while demonstrating how retired Dell Technologies equipment is responsibly dismantled, recycled, and prepared for reuse. By connecting personal stories with sustainable technology practices, the film communicates the shared values driving the partnership.
The Approach
Filming inside Goodwill’s recycling facilities, we combined authentic interviews with observational storytelling to capture both the people and the process behind the partnership. Following employees through their day-to-day work allowed us to tell a genuine human story while documenting the journey of retired technology from collection through to refurbishment and recycling, creating a film that balanced emotional storytelling with real operational insight.
The Impact
Rather than relying on corporate messaging alone, the film demonstrated Dell Technologies’ sustainability commitments through authentic stories and real experiences. By focusing equally on environmental responsibility and the life-changing opportunities created through employment, the content transformed a complex partnership into a relatable and engaging narrative.
The Business Outcome
The finished film became a valuable brand storytelling asset, supporting Dell Technologies’ sustainability and corporate responsibility communications across digital channels. By bringing together people, purpose, and environmental impact, it reinforced the company’s commitment to creating lasting value for communities while advancing more sustainable technology practices.
